Reverse description A single stylized maple leaf spray, consisting of two smaller flanking leaves and one large central maple leaf rendered in bold relief, occupies the centre of the reverse field — a design by George Kruger Gray first introduced in 1937. The denomination 1 CENT is inscribed in two lines across the upper field, with the numeral above and the word CENT below. The date appears in the lower left field, and the country name CANADA is inscribed along the lower arc in bold capitals. The designer's initials K·G appear to the lower right of the maple leaf spray. A beaded border encircles the entire design.
