Reverse description The denomination is displayed prominently in the centre of the field as the numeral '1', beneath which appears the Sinhala word 'සතය' (sataya) and below that the Tamil 'சதம்' (satam), followed by the Latin legend 'CENT'. The date of issue appears in the lower exergue. Flanking the central inscriptions are two decorative floral vine ornaments curling along the inner border. The Sinhala legend 'ලංකා' (Lanka) appears along the upper periphery, and the whole design is enclosed within a beaded border.
