Obverse description Full-facing effigy of Pope Benedict XVI standing with arms outstretched before the façade of St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City, rendered in high relief within a recessed inner circle. The date 2011 appears in the upper field above the pontiff's figure. The outer legend, separated from the inner design by a raised border, reads PRUEBA, TRIAL, ESSAI, and PROBE punctuated by five-pointed stars, with CITTA' DEL VATICANO along the lower arc, all in Latin script.
