Reverse description A facing portrait of Sullay Abu Bakarr, a celebrated Sierra Leonean musician, occupying the central field within a plain inner circle. The subject is depicted in a three-quarter facing pose with one hand raised near the chin. The name 'SULLAY ABU BAKARR' curves along the upper periphery of the coin, while the denomination 'ONE CENT' is inscribed in the lower portion flanked by raised dots. Additional information

Sierra Leone redenominated its currency in 2022, replacing the old leone at a rate of 1,000 to 1. These coins effectively launched a new series from scratch, the first circulating cent-denomination issues the country had produced in decades. KM#503 sits at the base of that new decimal structure.
