| Obverse description | The Arms of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas occupy the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a British ship under full sail and a rising sun, supported by a marlin to the left and a flamingo to the right, with a conch shell at the base. Above the shield rises a crest composed of a helmet surmounted by a hand grasping three native flamingo feathers. A two-tiered scroll below the supporters bears the national motto FORWARD UPWARD ONWARD TOGETHER. The circular legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS arcs along the upper periphery within a beaded border, while the date 1974 appears in the lower field. |
