| Obverse description | Cast bronze cash coin with a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim. Four Chinese clerical-script characters are arranged in the traditional cross-reading order — top, bottom, right, left — around the central hole, forming the reign title legend. The characters are boldly rendered in raised relief against a flat field, with a plain raised outer rim encircling the design. The overall style is consistent with Five Dynasties period casting conventions. |

A crescent symbol and a raised dot appear in the field, the precise positions of which vary by variety: crescent below with dot to the right (Hartill 15.21), crescent above with dot below (Hartill 15.22), or crescent to the right with dot to the left. These marks served as mint or batch control symbols. The reverse visible in the image shows the dot to the left of the square hole and a crescent to the right. |
