| Obverse description | Round tin cash coin with a central square perforation, struck in the tradition of Chinese Song Dynasty coinage. The four-character legend Zhidao Yuanbao (至道元寶) is arranged in the conventional cross pattern around the square hole, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left, rendered in cursive running script (xingshu). The characters are shallow and somewhat worn, reflecting the soft tin medium and the crude local casting technique typical of Malay peninsula imitations. The field is flat and unadorned, without inner or outer rims of significant relief, and the overall fabric is characteristic of a locally produced tin copy rather than an official Song imperial issue. |
