Obverse description Cast brass cash coin with a central square hole, bearing four Chinese ideograms in kaishu (regular script) disposed in cruciform arrangement around the central perforation, read in the traditional sequence top-bottom, right-left. The characters 永曆通寶 (Yongli Tongbao) are rendered in bold, well-formed strokes within the coin's flat field, enclosed by a raised inner rim surrounding the square hole and an outer raised border rim. The legend proclaims the Yongli reign title (永曆) and the phrase 通寶 meaning 'universal currency.' The overall style is characteristic of late Southern Ming cast coinage, with the character 通 displaying a closed head variant on this type.
Obverse script Chinese (traditional, regular script)
