| Reverse description | A single Chinese ideogram, 衡 (Heng), is cast above the central square hole in regular script (kaishu), serving as a mint mark identifying the Hengzhou mint. The reverse is otherwise plain, with a raised inner rim surrounding the square perforation and a corresponding outer rim, both undecorated. The character is well-defined against the flat field, consistent with Northern Song mint-mark practice of denoting the issuing prefecture on the reverse of cash coins. |
