| Obverse description | Central square hole (穿) flanked by four Chinese ideograms in clerical script (隸書), arranged in cruciform reading order — top, right, bottom, left — forming the reign title and denomination legend 熙寧元寶 (Xi Ning Yuan Bao). The characters are boldly rendered with characteristic clerical script brushstroke features, set within a plain inner rim and an outer raised border. The field surface exhibits the typical grainy texture of Song dynasty cast bronze. No additional decorative elements or rim embellishments are present. |
