| Obverse description | Round cast bronze coin featuring a central square perforation, characteristic of the cash coinage tradition. Four Chinese characters arranged in cruciform fashion around the square hole read clockwise: 祥 (Xiang), 符 (Fu), 元 (Yuan), 寶 (Bao), together forming the legend 'Xiangfu Yuanbao' — meaning 'Original Currency of the Xiangfu Era.' The field exhibits a heavily encrusted patina of blue-green and grey tones consistent with prolonged burial or submersion, and the raised characters, though worn, remain legible against the flat inner field. No outer rim inscription or additional decorative elements are present; the design is austere and functional in the manner of Song-dynasty-influenced cash coinage produced at the Palembang mint of Srivijaya. |
