| Obverse description | Cast iron cash coin with a central square hole framed by a raised inner rim. The four-character reign title legend 咸豐通寶 (Xianfeng Tongbao) is arranged in the traditional cross-reading format: top to bottom and right to left, rendered in regular script (kaishu) in raised relief. The characters are distributed in the four cardinal fields around the central aperture, with 咸 at the top, 寶 at the bottom, 通 to the right, and 豐 to the left. The flat, unadorned field is enclosed by a plain outer rim. The surface shows the typical rough texture associated with iron cast coinage of the Qing dynasty. |
