| Obverse description | Central square perforation surrounded by a raised inner rim, with four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform reading order around the central hole. The four-character reign title legend reads clockwise from the top: 天 (Tian), 贊 (Zan), 通 (Tong), 寶 (Bao). Characters are boldly cast in raised relief against a flat field, with a plain raised outer rim encircling the design. The overall style is typical of Liao dynasty cash coinage issued under Emperor Taizu during the Tianzan era (922–926). |
