| Obverse description | Cast copper cash coin featuring four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square perforation. Reading top-to-bottom, right-to-left, the legend reads 紹平通寶 (Thiệu Bình Thông Bảo), referencing the Thiệu Bình reign era (1434–1439) of Emperor Lê Thái Tông of the Later Lê dynasty. The characters are rendered in bold, slightly raised relief within a plain inner rim bordering the square hole and a raised outer rim encircling the coin's circumference. The field between the characters is flat and undecorated. The coin displays an attractive green patina consistent with aged copper alloy. |
