Obverse description Cast brass cash coin centred on a square perforation with a raised rim and raised square inner rim flanking the hole. The four-character reign legend 順治通寶 (Shunzhi Tongbao) is disposed in regular script (kaishu) in the four cardinal positions around the central square hole, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 順 (top), 治 (bottom), 通 (right), 寶 (left). The characters are boldly rendered in relief against a flat, plain field, consistent with the casting standards of the early Qing imperial mints.
