Reverse description Cast reverse features a central square perforation flanked by two Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu). The character '陝' (Shaan, abbreviated reference to Shaanxi province) appears to the right of the central hole, and the characters '一厘' (Yi Li, meaning 'one li,' a weight denomination equal to 1/1000 of a liang of silver) appear to the left, together identifying both the issuing mint province and the coin's intrinsic value standard. The field is plain and flat, bounded by raised inner and outer rims consistent with Qing dynasty cast coinage practice.
