| Obverse description | Cast brass cash coin with a central square hole, surrounded by four Chinese characters arranged in cruciform fashion, read top-to-bottom and right-to-left in the fields around the hole. The inscription 順治通寶 (Shunzhi Tongbao) is rendered in standard regular script (kaishu), with 順 (Shun) at top, 治 (Zhi) at bottom, 通 (Tong) at right, and 寶 (Bao) at left. The characters are bold and well-defined within a plain raised rim, typical of early Qing dynasty provincial casting. The field between the rim and the central perforation is flat and undecorated. |
