| Reverse description | Central square hole framed by a raised inner rim, with two Chinese ideograms in kaishu (Regular script) positioned vertically in the fields: 漢 (Han) above the central aperture and 五 (Wu, meaning 'five') below, denoting the Hanyang mint and the fifth year of the Qingyuan era (1199) respectively. The remaining left and right fields are blank. A plain raised outer rim borders the coin. Heavy iron corrosion and encrustation obscure the surface, characteristic of excavated Southern Song iron cash. |
