| Reverse description | The reverse displays two Manchu script characters flanking the central square perforation, one character to the right and one to the left, each read vertically. Together they render the mint name 'Boo-chuwan' (ᠪᠣᠣ ᠴᡠᠸᠠᠨ), identifying this coin as a product of the Chengdu mint in Sichuan province. The characters are cast in relatively shallow relief compared to the obverse, with a plain raised square rim around the hole and a wide outer border. The field surface shows the typical granular texture of Qing dynasty sand-cast coinage. |
