| Obverse description | Cast copper cash coin with a central square hole surrounded by a raised square border. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central aperture, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 乾 (top), 隆 (right), 通 (left), 寶 (bottom), together forming the reign title legend 'Qianlong Tongbao' (Qianlong Universal Currency). The characters are rendered in bold, deeply cast relief against a flat field, enclosed within a plain outer rim. The coin exhibits characteristic heavy-type weight and fabric associated with the early Aksu mint issues in southern Xinjiang. |
