| Additional information |
The Southern Han was one of the Ten Kingdoms that emerged from the collapse of the Tang dynasty, controlling Guangdong and Guangxi from its capital at Guangzhou. Qianheng was the reign title of Liu Yan, who declared himself emperor in 917 after first styling himself King of Nan Han — the Qianheng era ran only until 925, making this a narrow production window. Liu Yan's court was notorious for its reliance on eunuch administrators, a policy so extreme that free men seeking office were reportedly required to castrate themselves first.
