| Obverse description | Central square perforation surrounded by a raised square border, with Sogdian inscriptions distributed across the three remaining quadrants of the field. The legend, reading c`cynk xwbw nyrtt, identifies Nirtanak as Ruler of Chach and is arranged around the central void in the manner typical of Chach region coinage of the early medieval period. The script is rendered in the cursive Sogdian tradition, with individual characters exhibiting the angular strokes characteristic of the script. The overall design is plain, with no additional decorative elements in the field beyond the inscription. |
