Additional information

The Ninh Xá Rebellion was a brief but violent uprising in northern Vietnam led by Nguyễn Danh Phương, one of several regional warlords who exploited the chronic weakness of the Lê dynasty under Trịnh lord domination. Issuing coinage was a deliberate assertion of independent authority — a political act as much as an economic one. The rebellion was crushed by Trịnh forces by 1741, making the window for this coin's production exceptionally narrow.

Survivors are rare precisely because the issuing authority was extinguished so quickly.
