| Obverse description | Cast copper cash coin of round form with a central square hole. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged symmetrically around the central perforation, reading clockwise from the top: 元 (Nguyên), 豐 (Phong), 通 (Thông), 寶 (Bảo), forming the reign-era inscription 'Nguyên Phong Thông Bảo'. The characters are boldly rendered within a plain inner and outer rim, with no additional decorative elements in the field. |
