Obverse description Cast brass cash coin featuring four Chinese ideograms in regular script (kaishu) arranged symmetrically around the central square perforation, read in the traditional sequence: top, bottom, right, left. The inscription 康熙通寶 (Kāngxī Tōngbǎo) denotes the reign title of the Kangxi Emperor and the term for 'circulating currency.' The characters are rendered in bold, raised relief with clearly defined strokes, set within four quadrants defined by the inner rim of the square hole and the raised inner rim of the coin. The flat field shows typical casting texture, and the coin is bounded by a plain raised outer rim.
