| Obverse description | Cast round cash coin with a central square hole, bearing the four-character inscription 開元通寶 (Kaiyuan Tongbao) arranged in clerical script reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left around the central perforation. The characters are boldly rendered within the coin's inner rim, set against a plain, undecorated field. The outer rim is raised and relatively broad, typical of late Five Dynasties period cast coinage. The overall fabric shows characteristic lead casting with slight surface porosity. |
