| Obverse description | Central pentagonal (five-sided) perforation surrounded by a raised pentagonal frame, around which six repetitions of a Javanese script character are arranged in a circular pattern within the field. The characters are rendered in a flowing, curvilinear style, filling the annular space between the central aperture and the plain raised rim. The overall design reflects the distinctive cast bronze coinage tradition of the Sumatran sultanates of the early seventeenth century. |
