Obverse description Central square hole surrounded by a plain raised rim. Two Chinese characters, 漢興 (Hàn Xīng, meaning 'Han Prosperity' or 'Han Rising'), are cast in relief in the fields flanking the square hole — one character above and one below — rendered in a archaic clerical script style typical of the Five Hu and Sixteen Kingdoms period. The legends are bold and slightly irregular, consistent with the cast bronze coinage of the Cheng Han state. The overall fabric is thin and the field surfaces show characteristic casting texture.
