| Obverse description | Cast copper cash coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim, typical of Vietnamese Trần dynasty coinage. Four Chinese ideograms in cursive grass script (thảo thư) are arranged in the four quadrants around the central hole and read clockwise: 大 (top), 治 (right), 通 (bottom), 寶 (left), forming the reign title legend 大治通寶 (Đại Trị Thông Bảo). The characters exhibit the fluid, abbreviated strokes characteristic of grass script calligraphy, cast in moderate relief against a flat field. A plain raised outer rim encircles the coin's circumference, and the overall surface shows the green and brown patina consistent with aged copper alloy. |
