Additional information

Issued under Trần Dụ Tông, whose reign from 1341 to 1369 coincided with prolonged administrative decay and military pressure along the northern frontier with the Yuan-successor states. The Đại Trị era designation — running 1358 to 1369 — corresponds to the final stretch of his rule, during which the Trần dynasty's capacity to project central authority was visibly eroding. Toda's cataloguing of this type remains the principal reference point for Annamese cash coinage; his numbering system, established in the late nineteenth century, has never been comprehensively superseded.
