| Obverse description | Central square hole surrounded by a raised inner rim, with four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in the four cardinal positions around the perforation, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 大 (top), 和 (right), 通 (bottom), 寶 (left), forming the reign legend 大和通寶 (Đại Hòa Thông Bảo). The characters are rendered in bold, slightly recessed strokes within a plain field, bounded by a raised outer rim. The coin exhibits a heavily patinated surface with blue-green cuprite encrustation typical of Southeast Asian cast copper cash of the Lê dynasty period. |
