Obverse description Cast copper cash coin of standard Vietnamese-Chinese type, featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised inner rim. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central hole, read top-to-bottom then right-to-left: 太 (top), 平 (bottom), 興 (right), 寶 (left), forming the legend 太平興寶 (Thái Bình Hưng Bảo). The characters are rendered in relatively bold raised relief against a flat, unadorned field. The outer rim is plain and slightly raised, consistent with cast Vietnamese cash coinage of the Đinh dynasty period.
