Obverse description Round cast iron coin featuring a central square hole (穿) surrounded by four Chinese characters in Regular script (楷书), reading 淳熙元寶 (Chunxi Yuanbao) in a cruciform arrangement — one character positioned at each cardinal point relative to the central perforation. The legend reads clockwise from the top: 淳 (top), 熙 (right), 元 (bottom), 寶 (left), referencing the Chunxi reign era of Emperor Xiaozong (1174–1189). The field is plain, with a raised outer rim framing the legends, and the characters exhibit the balanced, structured strokes characteristic of Song dynasty regular script casting.
