| Obverse description | Round bronze cash coin with a central square perforation flanked by four Chinese characters rendered in the highly cursive cao shu (grass script) style, arranged in cruciform fashion reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left. The four-character reign title legend 淳化元寶 (Chunhua Yuanbao) is cast in bold, fluid strokes characteristic of the grass script calligraphic tradition, with the characters occupying the four quadrants around the square hole. The field between the characters and the raised outer rim is plain, without dot marks or additional decorative elements. The coin exhibits a broad, well-defined rim and the overall surface shows an aged brown patina with traces of green cuprite corrosion consistent with long burial. |
