Reverse description Plain reverse field with a central square perforation framed by a raised square rim. The single character 捌 (bā, meaning 'eight'), denoting the weight denomination of eight fen, appears in raised relief in the lower portion of the field below the square hole, rendered in regular script. The upper and lateral fields are blank. A plain raised outer rim borders the coin. The casting surface shows typical southern-type texture consistent with Nanjing-region mint production of the late Ming period.
