Obverse description The obverse presents the four-character reign title legend 崇禎通寶 (Chongzhen Tongbao) cast in regular script (kaishu), arranged in the traditional cross-reading order: top, bottom, right, left, around a central square hole. The characters are set within a raised inner rim that frames the square perforation, with a plain outer rim encircling the field. The casting is characteristic of late Ming northern provincial production, with moderately bold relief and a flat, unadorned field.
