| Obverse description | Cast zinc cash coin featuring a central square perforation bordered by a raised rim on both inner and outer edges. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in the four quadrants surrounding the central hole, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 景 (top), 盛 (bottom), 通 (right), 寶 (left), forming the reign legend Cảnh Thịnh Thông Bảo. The characters are boldly rendered in relief against a flat field, consistent with Vietnamese cast coinage of the Tây Sơn dynasty period. The outer rim is raised and well-defined, though the example shows significant surface corrosion and encrustation typical of zinc cash coins of this era. |
