| Obverse description | Central square perforation enclosed by a raised border, with a Sogdian inscription encircling the hole in the field. A trident-like tamgha of the Tukhus tribe appears to the left of the central aperture, serving as the dynastic symbol of the issuing authority. The legend is rendered in cursive Sogdian script and reads as the coin of Ruler Bitmish. The overall design is typical of the cast coinage produced by the Turkic tribal confederacies of the Syr Darya and Semirech'ye regions during the 8th century. |
