| Obverse description | Round cast bronze coin with a central square perforation, exhibiting characteristic Tang dynasty fabric with raised inner and outer rims. The four-character legend 開元通寶 is disposed in cruciform arrangement around the central square hole, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left in clerical script (lishu). The characters are boldly cast in relief against the flat field, with the strokes showing the typical angular, structured style associated with Yizhou mint issues. The surface displays an attractive blue-green patina over a warm bronze substrate, consistent with prolonged burial. |
