| Reverse description | The reverse field is largely plain with a central square perforation and a raised outer rim. A single Chinese character 襄 (Xiang) appears in the field, identifying the mint of Xiangzhou; on this variety (Hartill 14.84) the character is positioned above the square hole. The surface displays typical Tang-period casting texture with a patina of dark brown and green corrosion consistent with burial or prolonged age. No additional decorative elements are present. |
