Obverse description Central square perforation surrounded by four Manchu script characters disposed in the four quadrants of the field, reading vertically from left to right: 'Abkai fulingga han jiha' (meaning 'Khan's money of the Heavenly Mandate era'), the legend referencing the reign of Nurhaci (1616–1625). The characters are rendered in the early Manchu script style, cast in relatively shallow relief against a plain, flat field. The coin exhibits a plain raised rim with no additional decorative border. The overall design is characteristic of the early Later Jin cast cash tradition, adapted from Chinese cash coinage conventions but bearing exclusively Manchu script.
