| Obverse description | Central field features a naturalistic flowering plant with two blossoms and several leaves, rendered in fine relief rising from a plain ground. The denomination mark 'B.5' appears in the lower exergue, flanked by small star ornaments, indicating 5 Baiocchi struck at Bologna. The circular legend 'PIVS VI PONT MAXIM' runs along the upper and lateral periphery, separated by small star stops. The coin is bordered by a tight milled or beaded outer rim. The overall design is characteristic of late 18th-century Papal coinage struck under Pope Pius VI. |
