| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the quartered heraldic shield of Grand Master Juan de Homedes, displaying the armorial bearings of the Order of the Hospital alongside the personal arms of the Grand Master, the whole set within a shaped cartouche. The shield is struck in relief on a flat field, characteristic of hammered coinage of the period. A circular legend in Latin runs around the periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded border. |
