| Obverse description | Crowned bust of Ferdinand II of Aragon facing left, with long straight hair falling to the shoulder and an ornate crown above; the king is depicted in profile with fine engraved detail on the hair and collar. The bust occupies the central field in the medieval hammered style typical of late 15th- to early 16th-century Neapolitan coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading +FERNANDVS·ET. HELISABET·DEI·G·, identifying the joint monarchs Fernando and Isabella by the grace of God. |
