| Obverse description | Right-facing crowned bust of Federico III in profile, depicted with long flowing hair and a draped neckline, rendered in late Gothic style. The king wears an ornate crown with fleur-de-lis finials set above a beaded inner circle. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait within a beaded border, reading FEDERICVS DEI G R SIC HIER, identifying the ruler as King of Sicily and Jerusalem. Small decorative annulets serve as punctuation separating the legend elements. The portrait displays fine engraving characteristic of the Neapolitan workshop of the period. |
