(Translation: 1 Bu)
Reverse description The reverse bears large, boldly rendered cursive kanji characters executed in a fluid, calligraphic brushwork style typical of Edo-period official coinage. The characters 保 (Ho), 光 (Mitsu), and 次 (tsugi) identify the mint official responsible for this issue, with the artist's personal monogram (kao) incorporated as a stylized signature below. The inscription effectively serves as a guarantor's mark, attesting to the authenticity and fineness of the piece. The surface shows characteristic hammer-struck texture with slightly irregular borders, consistent with hand-fabricated Japanese gold coinage of the Tenpō era.
