Obverse description Irregular hammered gold flan with a raised beaded border encircling the entire coin. The field displays four bold kanji characters arranged in two columns, reading 'Kōshū Ichibu' (甲州一分), denoting the provincial origin (Kai Province, historically known as Kōshū) and the denomination (one bu). The characters are rendered in an archaic, brushwork-influenced relief style characteristic of early Edo-period provincial gold coinage. The surface exhibits the typical uneven texture of hand-struck gold pieces of this era.
