| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Charles II facing right, rendered in high relief with fine engraving characteristic of Thomas Simon's work. The king is depicted with long flowing hair beneath a laurel wreath, wearing armour with a richly draped mantle visible at the shoulder. The portrait occupies the majority of the obverse field, displaying a confident regal profile. The encircling legend reads CAROLVS·II·D·G·MAG·BR·FR·ET·H·REX, separated by pellets, running along the rim. |
