| Reverse description | Papal heraldic shield of Pope Paul II (Pietro Barbo) displayed within a quadrilobe or oval cartouche, surmounted by the papal tiara and the crossed keys of Saint Peter, the emblems of the Holy See. The shield bears the Barbo family arms, a stylised lion passant on a divided field, rendered in bold relief consistent with the hammered technique of the period. The cartouche is set against a plain field, with the papal legend distributed around the periphery between pellet stops. The overall composition follows the standard reverse type for Bolognini struck at Ancona during the pontificate of Paul II. |
