Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of Simón Bolívar after the classic design by Désiré-Albert Barre, rendered with fine detail in the hair and facial features. The legend BOLÍVAR is inscribed to the left of the effigy and LIBERTADOR curves to the right, both running along the inner border of the beaded rim. The engraver's name BARRE appears in small capitals in the exergue beneath the truncation. The field is smooth and slightly concave, characteristic of a Proof-like pattern strike.
